The Darien Sportsplex Skate School is an ISI program that offers a variety of Ice Skating classes for ALL ages and abilities. Our goal is to teach each student the fundamentals of skating along with our commitment to making them enjoy the sport.
- The Skate School offers classes from Tots to Adults.
- Each session runs 8 weeks long. Practice sessions are offered in between group lessons and are included with your registration.
- Students will be tested at the end of each session in order to advance to the next level.
- Instructors are available for Private lessons. Please inquire with an instructor or at the Skate school table for a schedule of their available times and fees.

- 4 ways to register
- Please register in Advance- Students will Not be allowed to skate the same day that you register.
- Any registrations taken after the deadline will start the second week of class. A $5.00 fee will be added for any registrations received after the deadline.
- Make- up lessons are available within the current session. (No make-up lessons can be made on the first week of class).
- Please arrive 15-30 minutes prior to the start of the first class.
- No refunds, Skate School credit only.

TOT Classes (4 yr olds):
This class teaches the basic skills of skating.
Pre-Alpha (5 - 14 yr olds), no prior class experience required
This class teaches basic forward and backward skills to those who have never taken skating lessons.
Alpha, must have passed Pre-Alpha test
Class builds on Pre-Alpha skills, introduces forward stroking, crossovers and stops.
Beta, must have passed Alpha test
Covers back stroking, back crossovers and t-stops.
Gamma, must have passed Beta test
More advanced skills such as outside 3-turns, mohawk, turns and hockey stops.
Delta, must have passed gamma test
Inside 3-turns, outside and inside edges, lunges and bunny hops.
Edge Class, available to levels Gamma and above
Students will work on basic to advanced skills emphasizing edge control.
Adults
All abilities, ages 15 & up.
Freestyle Levels (1 - 10)
Level 1 – 10, Advanced Skaters Only

Ice time is available for both the recreational and competitive skater. Those wishing to skate on contract ice can skate independently or with a private instructor.
- Contracts are accepted on a first come, first serve basis. All Contracts are required to have a minimum of 10 ice sessions.
- Make-up sessions must be done within the current contract. Make-ups may not be carried over to future contracts.
- Anyone wishing to do less than 10 sessions can pay as you go (Walk-on).
Cost:
$8.00- 45 Min. (Contracted)
$10.00- 45 Min. (Non-Contracted)
$9.00- 1 Hour (Contracted)
$11.00- 1 Hour (Non-Contracted)

Synchronized skating is a great team sport, which teaches commitment, strengthens individual skills and creates friendships with other teammates. Skaters are encouraged to try out the experience of skating on a team. A summer clinic is available for all skaters interested.

When: Every Saturday in June- July 2010, 9:30am-10:30am
Age Category: 6-12 Years old
Level Requirements: Beta and up
Cost: $20 each week
Tryouts will be held on: August 21st, 12:40pm - 2:40pm
Cost: $40:00
Here are just a few reminders regarding the clinic and tryouts:
- Skating dresses and tights should be worn.
- Hair up in a ponytail, and out of the face.
- No Jewelry ( Only little stud earrings).
- You may bring water bottles, we'll be working hard.
- No chewing gum.
- Please plan on arriving at least 10 minutes early, so that we can get everyone together so we can start on time!
Some things that will be learned at the clinic include:
Pinwheels, Skating Lines, Circles, Pass throughs, Foot Work, and Team Skills
