Little Hawks Hockey Classes

Learn To Skate

Classes are designed to give the inexperienced skater a solid foundation for developing their hockey skating abilities. Our goal mission is to develop the students skating abilities to be able to promote them towards the first steps of learning to play hockey.

Therese Stellato and her staff first develop the basic skills each player needs to skate safely and confidently. Class instruction includes: The basics for developing confidence in gaining balance and control of the young skater’s abilities. The student will learn the art of a push and glide skating stride in a forward motion. Keeping the atmosphere fun and safe with easy competition drills helps in the development of the skater.

Equipment Requirements to safely participate in class: USA approved Hockey Helmet, protective gloves, elbow pads, knee pads, hockey skates.

Little Hawks "Pre-Hockey" Classes

hawks Therese Stellato and her staff design and instruct proven teaching aids which truly enhance the development of the inexperienced player. Classes are structured to confidently teach the natural progression of skating and hockey fundamentals (shooting, passing, scoring, checking, team play etc.), through competitive drills designed with the student in mind. The mission goal is to develop the player’s ability so as to promote him/her to future club and league play teams.

There are two different levels of instructional classes designed to help develop the student towards playing on a “Scooter” or “In-House” team.

Students registered in either Levels #1, #2 or #3 will be evaluated to ensure they are in the correct level to enhance their development. The students may be moved accordingly up or down to the correct Levels if needed.

Class Instruction includes: The development of proper balance and skating strides to perform forward movement, sharp turns left & right, stopping, the basics of backward skating and some puck control. A number of competition drills verses other students will be introduced to help enhance the child’s competitive skills.
